Deviants

Hello everyone !

A few months ago, someone took perler bead art from deviants and claimed that it was his work (you can find the previous journal here). Today, there's another thief, and it's a big one.

instagram.com/crafty_since_198…

I'm linking a couple of deviations that he stole, with the original deviations :

instagram.com/p/xzfS-7qics/?mo…

And the list goes on and on. The thief claims that it is his work, and these deviations help him to sell perler bead art. We need to stop this. So, please spread the word and share this journal.

If you see one of your deviations or even one work of other deviants, contact this deviant and link him/her the Instagram page and this journal. Comment on this journal with links of your deviation and the Instagram page.

I don't know what can we do about it apart from asking the thief to pull out all the deviations that he stole and posted on his account. I don't know Instagram that much, but I saw that you can report the account. Before you do something, please comment on this journal, and we'll see what we'll do next to stop this thief.

Thanks for reading, helping and spreading the word !

Would it be possible to add a Commissions folder for those who want to sell Perler creations?

I don't have the rights to create a new folder =/
So, if the founder or co-founders see this message, they'll consider doing so :)

Okay ^_^

I hope they are still active. Most clubs I'm in have  founders with dead accounts.

Yeah =/. I think one co-founder is still active, well I hope.
I asked to be co-founder a few weeks ago, that way I could create new folders, but I didn't receive a response =/

I was just wondering (also cuz im a noob :P)

I heard of both perler and hama beads and I want to know the difference. I was searching around and perler came up first for me when i searched up either of them. Is hama an international brand? Btw I live in the US, maybe thats why perler came up.
Its actually cheaper in US to buy perler considering the shipping costs for hama, atleast according to my search on amazon. So i was wondering if there is a quality difference?

Hama beads are widely available in the UK, while Perler is more in the US. They melt slightly differently as well.

Here's an image of the different brands and how they melt 3.bp.blogspot.com/-J9LVi3wF1Ew…

I think the cheapest way to buy either brand is online, I know lots of artists buy them in bulk here www.bakerskidscrafts.com/ you can get any brand for similar prices.

I uploaded a few to movies, I wasn't for sure if they were considered movies or cartoons (they're kind of both ^_^) I hope it's ok! Is there a limit to adding? I didn't want to spam or anything.

Hi ! Actually, there's a limit to adding since a week, because someone submitted 200+ submissions in one shot. The limit is 10 submissions per day. I would have put a limit of 20 per day, but deviantART doesn't allow us to do so :(
I think that the folder "Cartoons" is more for cartoon TV shows, and the folder "Movies" is for all the movies (cartoon or not), so you submitted your work in the right folder :D

Oh, don't worry about spamming. We greatly appreciate artwork as long as they are sorted correctly, which in this case they are. Go on with your funky self and thank you for sharing your amazing stuff!!

Hi guys. Thanks for adding me to the group. Since I use Hama beads instead of Perler (you can't really get that brand of beads here in Denmark), I hope I'm allowed to stay >w>;
Also, I don't see many (any?) people sowing the beads? It's a slightly different, but very nice way to work with beads as well ^^

Hi, and welcome !
You're allowed to stay, and you can also submit your art. This group is for the beads from all brands (Hama, Perler, PhotoPearls/Nabbi, Artkal, ...), as long as they are fusible beads (that you can iron). I'm from Belgium, and I use only Hama beads for now. But you can easily get other brands with Amazon, official sites, ..., but a little pricier.
I don't think I have ever seen people sowing the beads, but that's a nice way to use them. They are fusible beads, so they are more used for that I guess ^^. If you want to upload this kind of work, maybe put it in the "Misc." folder. We will maybe create a folder in the future for this type of use of the beads !
I hope that I helped you :)

I've put some up in misc, I figured that was the folder it fitted best ^^ I might make a tutorial at some point if people are interested. And yes, they are mainly used fused together, but I recall that at least Hama back in the days had inspiration-booklets showing patterns for sowing the beads as well ^^ Anyway, glad to be part of the group

Good initiative for the folder ^^. I think it could be interesting to see that tutorial. I don't quite know the history of Hama, but that's a good thing to know about the brand :)
Glad you're a part of this group :D

200 uploads to the group in one shot is a bit much don't you guys think.

Yes it is, and we are sorry for that. We are talking about the problem (we will maybe put a limit on the submissions per day) and we'll find solutions :D
Any advice for us to improve the group ?

10 Submissions a day should be enough.
